A complementary method of treatment

CranioSacral therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages the body's own mechanism to dissipate the negative effects of stress (physical, mental and chemical) on your central nervous system.

What is CST?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) involves light maneuvers by which the therapist monitors the rhythm of the craniosacral system to detect and correct any physical restrictions on the skull, spine, or fascial tissue in general.

What is the craniosacral system?

physiology

The craniosacral system is made up of meninges and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull to the sacrum (the base of the spine), hence the name of the therapy.

What is the craniosacral rhythm?

physiology

The craniosacral rhythm is a rhythmic movement that consists of a flexion phase and an extension phase of the bony part that encloses the central nervous system, determined by the production and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

What is CSF?

physiology

CSF is formed and secreted primarily by the choroid plexus of the cerebral ventricles, especially the lateral ventricles; Smaller amounts are secreted by the ventricular ependymus, arachnoid membranes and brain through the perivascular spaces.

How does CST work?

physiology

By reducing sympathetic nervous system activity (caused by stress - physical, mental, emotional) with the help of gentle maneuvers on the skull, spine or fascial tissue in the restricted area.

SomatoEmotional® Release

Research conducted in the late 1970s by Dr. John Upledger and biophysicist Zvi Karni has found that the body often retains the emotional imprint of physical trauma and vice versa .  Through specific techniques, the therapist guides the dialogue in the direction of awareness of the emotional cause that determined the restriction or that favors the maintenance of physical tensions.

Medicine

Holistic medicine is represented by a wide range of medical practices which is based on many years of scientific evidence. As a physician, I consider that CranioSacral Therapy, Upledger method, is a branch of holistic medicine because it sees the patient as a whole and treats him/her as such.
